Abstract: The author found sequential applications of paraquat at 0.14, 0.28, and 0.56 kg ai /ha in September and October were effective in reducing tall fescue cover (< 10% tall fescue cover 12 MAT). Glyphosate applied at 0.84 and 1.7 kg ai/ha as a single application or as a sequential application at 0.84, 0.17, and 0.25 kg ai/ha in September or October was also effective in controlling tall fescue 12 MAT, though treatment effects were inconsistent across application years. Additionally, dalapon, glufosinate, simazine, fluazifop-p, and sethoxydim, provided poor tall fescue control (> 50% tall fescue cover 12 MAT) regardless of application timing or rate. For all herbicides spring applications were not as effective as fall applications for tall fescue removal.
